The toll that military occupation is taking upon civilians is being revealed as more news reports continue to surface about the Russian invasion of Ukraine. A new video released Friday shows an armored vehicle that multiple sources claim to be Russian driving down a highway and swerving in order to hit a civilian vehicle traveling the opposite way.
The tank is perched on top of the vehicle and rocked back and forth. People in the room where the event is being recorded can hear their horror screams. The background can be heard smoldering with gunfire.
Amazingly, two separate videos, purporting that they are of the same vehicle, show a man still alert and trapped in the driver’s chair. Others are trying to remove the metal from the vehicle to release the driver. His current condition and the extent of his injuries are not known.
The Sun reports the armored vehicle to be a Strela-10 equipped with anti-aircraft guns. This vehicle was used by both the Russian army and the Ukrainian military.
“I saw an armored vehicle and there was automatic fire,” Viktor Berbash, a Kyiv resident told the New York Post, adding that he believed the tank deliberately targeted the car. “It was not by chance, it was for fun, there was no need for this […] And it just ran into this car. Stopped, reversed over it again and drove on.”
Viktor Berbash, a Kyiv resident, said that he saw an armored car and that there was automatic fire. He also stated that he believes the tank targeted the car deliberately. It was not accidental, it was for entertainment, there wasn’t need for this […] and it just ran into the car. It stopped, and I reversed it over again. Then I drove on.
Volodymyr Zelensky (the president of Ukraine) posted a statement on Twitter Friday urging outside observers to increase sanctions against Russia, saying that “not all options for sanctions have been exhausted”
