Teacher At Catholic School Caught On Video Doing Nazi Salute

She had a room full of pupils, but no lesson at all.

A startling video showing a Catholic school teacher in Brazil doing the Nazi salute in front of her students has prompted an investigation. On Twitter, a video of the scandalous occurrence has already received more than 1.9 million views.

The horrifying video depicts the unidentified teacher giving her children the Nazi salute known as the sieg heil while donning a Brazilian flag top and allegedly supporting right-wing president Jair Bolsonaro with bogus badges. (In the first round of voting in the Oct. 2 presidential election, former Brazilian president Luiz Inácio “Lula” da Silva narrowly defeated Bolsonaro; however, because neither candidate received more than 50% of the vote, a runoff will be held on Oct. 30.)

Her pupils are still laughing loudly in the background the whole time.

The instructor, who has taught at the institute for more than ten years, isn’t sure why she made the offensive gesture. Prosecutors, however, apparently received several complaints about the event, and the school reportedly took “internal” disciplinary action against the instructor, but they did not specify the specifics.

Brazil’s Jewish groups considered the event especially troubling considering a widespread surge in neo-Nazi activity of late. The action “exemplifies the warnings that neo-Nazi incidents have increased in Brazil in recent years, whether against Jews or other groups, such as black people and the LGBTQIA+ community,” the Brazil-Israel Institute noted in a study, according to Jam Press.

A Pennsylvania teacher got into trouble in 2018 after it was discovered that he moonlighted as a Nazi-themed wrestler at a nearby performance called Blitzkrieg the German Juggernaut, in a similarly scandalous episode that happened closer to home.

However, the contentious cosplayer was permitted to continue working since he hadn’t disobeyed school rules.
