Shanghai Residents Scream Out Windows After Week Imprisoned At Home

After being prohibited from leaving their homes for nearly a week, regular folks in Shanghai appear to start yelling out their windows in disturbing footage.

Since April 5, the world’s third-largest city has been under complete Covid lockdown, with food supplies reportedly running low as China’s government attempts to cope.

The Shanghai night skyline is evident in this video initially published on Chinese social media, with dozens of high-rise housing towers visible.

Hundreds of shouting voices can be heard in the background, possibly coming from a variety of locales.

One of the apartment towers is emitting what looks to be a searchlight.

The footage is the latest frightening video to surface from Shanghai, where 26 million people have been banned from leaving their homes for the next five days.

Starving consumers were recorded plundering a grocery on Saturday after receiving meager government food allotment.

People shouting for food and medical supplies can also be heard in other footage.

After its owner apparently tested positive for Covid, a pet corgi was seen being beaten to death by a health worker.

As China’s government defends the measure as a means to reduce Covid-19 instances, children have been forcibly seized from their parents and held in cages.

On March 28, Chinese officials planned a staged shutdown in the city’s eastern and western portions.

However, when incidents in Shanghai reached new highs, the city-wide ban was prolonged with no expiration date set for April 5.

As officials scaled up a harsh mass testing effort, the city saw a record 21,000 positive cases on Friday.

For more than two weeks, some residents have been prohibited from leaving their houses to obtain necessities.

Insiders say the Chinese Communist Party has implemented a stringent zero-Covid policy that will keep millions of people in a state of near-permanent confinement. They are using a 2020 method for the 2022 virus , a journalist said.
