Powerful Dem Has A History Of Employing Convicts

Powerful Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney hired at least three convicted felons to work on his campaign and office staff in the last several years, paying them over $100,000 in salary thanks to taxpayers and campaign supporters, according to documents.

Between December 2016 and March 2018, Sean Doyle worked as a “special assistant” in the congressional office of the upstate Democrat. In November 2017 and March 2019, he viciously beat his wife, News 12 reporter Blaise Gomez, beating, strangling, and dragging her by her hair so forcefully that it tore off Gomez’s scalp, according to Mid Hudson News and other media. It wasn’t until March 2019 that the 2017 event was made public.

In 2021, Doyle entered a plea agreement with the prosecution and admitted guilt to three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, unlawful obstruction of breathing, and coercion. He is presently being held in the Groveland Correctional Facility in upstate Sonyea after receiving a sentence of up to 10 years in jail.

According to the federal election commission’s records, Doyle received $29,064 from Maloney’s campaign when he worked there. A further $30,632 was paid to the congressman by the House office, according to records of disbursements.

“Sean Doyle was no longer employed by Rep. Maloney when the office became

aware of his criminal conduct. We didn’t know about any accusations or charges against Mr. Doyle before or during his work for Rep. Maloney, and he would not have been hired had we known.”
