Pelosi Barred from Receiving Communion

In light of Nancy Pelosi’s pro-abortion stance, the Archbishop of San Francisco has barred her from receiving communion in her home district. This was reflected in her work to pass the falsely named “Women’s Health Protection Act” which would have expanded a concocted right to abortion far beyond what Roe allowed and what the majority of Americans support.

The decision was announced by Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone in a written statement to Speaker Pelosi on Friday, which has since been published on the San Francisco Archdiocese’s website. It’s very obvious what the Catholic Church teaches about life and when it starts, as well as the terrible sin Pelosi is doing by publicly supporting abortion, which she excuses with her professed Catholic religion.

While abortion and infanticide are unspeakable crimes, Christians have always upheld the dignity of human life at every stage, especially the most vulnerable, beginning with life in the womb, according to the Second Vatican Council’s decree on the Church in the Modern World, Guadium et spes. His Holiness, Pope Francis, has been equally explicit and forceful in his teaching on the sanctity of human life in the womb, as have his predecessors.

This fundamental moral truth has implications for Catholics’ daily lives, particularly for those tasked with promoting and defending society’s public good. Pope St. John Paul II was likewise persistent in defending the Church’s unchanging teaching, reminding us that individuals directly active in legislative bodies have a “grave and clear obligation to oppose” any measure that threatens human life. It is impossible for them, as it is for every Catholic, to support or vote for such legislation. After learning the Church’s doctrine, a Catholic lawmaker who supports procured abortion commits a plainly grievous sin that causes great shame to others.

As a result, it is against worldwide Church rule to allow such people to Holy Communion.
