Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, has been the subject of an ongoing investigation for many years. A month or so before his father was sworn in as president in 2020, the younger Biden acknowledged that the federal government had begun looking into his taxes. Nothing has taken place more than two years afterwards. Recent correspondence from a lawyer for an IRS officer suggested that the probe was not being handled properly.
A lawyer by the name of Mark D. Lytle wrote to many members of Congress on April 19 to let them know that he is representing an IRS Criminal Supervisory Special Agent.
In the letter, his client claims that for the past three years, he has been in charge of a “ongoing and sensitive investigation of a high-profile, controversial” individual and that he now wants to inform lawmakers as a whistleblower.

Letter to Congress seeking whistleblower guidance doesn't name Hunter but congressional aides confirmed. First reported by WSJ https://t.co/KADItNHhgT pic.twitter.com/IEoZ3KqcDM
The letter continues by stating that the facts Lytle’s client wishes to provide will conflict with testimony that a “senior political appointee” provided when testifying under oath.
Additionally, the IRS officer alleges that the probe was not shielded from conflicts of interest. They also think politics is playing a role in the investigation.
In the letter to Congress, Lytle makes no mention of Hunter Biden or the president’s family. The Wall Street Journal, among other media outlets, asserted that those acquainted with the letter indicated it was about Hunter Biden.
Hunter Biden is currently being looked at by the Justice Department for alleged tax and firearms violations. The US attorney for Delaware has stayed silent regarding the investigation and declined to comment on the letter. President Biden left David C. Weiss, a Donald Trump appointment, in charge of the case when he assumed office.
During the press briefing on April 20, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre responded to a query about whether Weiss is taking his time because the investigation involves the president’s son. She stated that the inquiry is being handled by the “independent” Department of Justice and that the president’s administration is not involved.
