After losing their minds when Republican Florida Representative Kat Cammack declared they want to split the GOP while drinking wine, munching popcorn, and donning blankets in the Capitol on Wednesday afternoon, House Democrats were brought to order.
In her address, she made a case for Kevin McCarthy. The House had to be brought to order as soon as Democrats began to boo and jeer, “They want us divided. They want us to fight each other. That much has been made clear by the popcorn, and blankets and alcohol that has coming over there,”
Republicans are currently voting for a speaker of the house on their sixth ballot, with no end in sight.
There were other heated exchanges on the floor in addition to Cammack’s statement today.
Rep. Lauren Boebert criticized Trump and pleaded with him to inform Kevin McCarthy that he lacked the necessary support and that he should quit his candidacy for House Speaker. The House also let out an audible gasp at this.
Boebert said that President Trump had been attempting to dissuade them from staging an uprising, “So let’s work together. Lets stop with the campaign smears and tactics to get people to turn against us. We’ve been having my favorite president call us and tell us we need to knock this off. I actually think it needs to be reversed. Our president needs to tell Kevin McCarthy that ‘sir you do not have the votes and you need to withdraw.”
