Following an inquiry into the 71-year-behavior old’s on set, production on Bill Murray’s upcoming film Being Mortal has been formally paused.
The specifics of Murray’s alleged behavior have yet to be revealed, but a statement is due this weekend after production was suspended on April 18.
So far, the identity of the complainant has remained a mystery.
Filming on the picture has been put on hold indefinitely until the investigation is completed, according to the producers, who sent a letter to the cast and crew yesterday.
The movie is being directed by Netflix’s Master of None star Aziz Ansari and co-starring Seth Rogen. They began filming in March.
The film centers on American surgeon Atul Gawande’s nonfiction book Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters in the End, which explores end-of-life and hospice care.
The mysterious Murray’s behavior on production has been brought up before, since the Ghostbusters and Caddyshack star is known for having intense conversations and even violent altercations over artistic disagreements.
Most notably, in 2003, the deadpan humour expert allegedly made unjustifiable and disgusting remarks to Charlie’s Angels co-star Lucy Liu, to which Murray supposedly replied in kind.
Murray has had a long and successful career, receiving a Golden Globe and being nominated for an Academy Award for Lost in Translation in 2003, as well as two Primetime Emmy Awards most recently winning Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie in 2015 for Olive Kitteridge.
He most recently appeared in Ghostbusters: Afterlife, reprising his role as cultural icon Dr. Peter Venkman, and has completed production for Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
