On Thursday, there was a moment of amusement in the White House briefing room when Peter Doocy from Fox News unintentionally mentioned former President Barack Obama instead of President Biden, leading to laughter among those present.
While posing a question to John Kirby, the spokesperson for the National Security Council, Doocy inquired about the reported disagreement between Vice President Kamala Harris and President Biden regarding the U.S. approach to the Israel-Gaza conflict.
In the course of that inquiry, Doocy inadvertently began to mention President Biden as “Obama” but caught himself midway. This moment prompted him to utter “President O-Biden,” causing laughter among those present.
Despite Doocy’s recovery and his assertion that the Kamala Harris narrative was significant for Fox News, Kirby swiftly countered, suggesting that this wasn’t a major story for any other news outlet except Fox News. This seemed to be a pointed commentary on the perceived media bias associated with Fox News.
Throughout the years, there has been a strained relationship between the President and the news reporter, exemplified by President Biden calling out Doocy on two occasions for what he perceived as poorly framed and leading questions. In past instances, President Biden has even referred to Doocy using strong language, labeling him a “stupid son of a b*tch.”
On Thursday, Politico was the first to break the story, alleging that Vice President Harris has been advocating for President Biden to demonstrate more public concern for Palestinians in his approach to the Israel-Hamas conflict. The White House has refuted the story, asserting that it is untrue and emphasizing that there are no divergent opinions between the President and the Vice President regarding the management of the Israel-Hamas conflict.
