The distraught father of a UCLA graduate student who was stabbed to death in broad daylight in Los Angeles last week blasted lawmakers for allowing criminals to run amok.
Todd Kupfer, the heartbroken father, said that crimes are definitely increasing and that a lot of criminals are on the streets where they do not belong.
Brianna Kupfer, his 24-year-old daughter, was murdered on Thursday by someone who entered into Croft House, an upscale furniture company where she was employed, and stabbed her.
Brianna Kupfer was a UCLA design student who had been working part-time as a consultant at Croft House on North La Brea Avenue for nearly a year.
Todd Kupfer noted his daughter was a voracious reader who, unlike many young people, was not tied to her phone. She had traveled widely, including trips to Australia, Indonesia, Thailand, and Europe, but she was eager to visit some of the world’s most remote locations.
Her father described her as driven and ambitious, with a bucket list on her phone where she laid out her intentions.
However, those dreams came to a sad end on Thursday when a man dressed in a dark hoodie, a white N-95 mask, and dark clothing entered Croft House at 1:50 p.m., according to authorities.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, he stabbed her to death for no apparent reason before fleeing through the backdoor into a back alley. He was seen quietly heading down the alley toward Oakwood Avenue on surveillance camera.
After 20 minutes, a client entered the business and discovered Brianna Kupfer dead in a pool of blood, according to authorities.
Kupfer was alone in the store, which her father thought was unusual. During business hours, two personnel were usually present.
Police on Monday declined to comment on the investigation’s status, and Todd Kupfer said he hadn’t heard from detectives in a while.
