According to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO), the woman was spotted struggling to keep above water after falling into a basin close to her residence at the Boca Royale Golf and Country Club.
Two alligators were seen swimming towards her and snatching her while she was submerged, according to witnesses.
The woman, whose name has not been released, was declared dead at the site.
The incident happened at 7:47 p.m., according to the Englewood Fire District, close to Cayman Isle Boulevard and Golf View Drive.
The alligators were taken out of the pond by a trapper for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC).
It is still under investigation, therefore it is unclear if the big reptiles had anything to do with her passing.
