A man from New York City is being sought for allegedly hitting an MTA bus driver with a tree branch on Wednesday. The female bus driver was attacked in the arm by a 39-year-old guy who exited the vehicle, grabbed a tree branch, re-entered, and continued his attack on the MTA driver’s right arm, according to police.
After tossing the tree branch at her, he fled the area. The suspect was characterized as a partially bald male in his 30s or 40s with black and white facial hair by the NYPD. The driver was not sent to the hospital for treatment. According to the New York Post, the MTA issued a statement calling the behavior unprovoked and unacceptable.
MTA bus drivers are an important component of the city’s lifeblood, and they should never have to worry about their own or their passengers’ safety while on the job. The MTA said in a statement that the attack was unprovoked and reprehensible, and that it will help with the NYPD to identify the offender and bring them to justice.
A brown hoodie, light blue jeans, and black sneakers were last spotted on the suspect.
