The Middle East Media Research Institute, or MEMRI, was the first to announce the threat of suicide bombing. MEMRI is a watchdog that monitors communications from extremist groups and media sources.
According to a December report, during ongoing talks in Doha, Qatar, where the Taliban government seeks international recognition, Afghanistan’s acting defense minister, Maulvi Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid, said that if the United States wanted troops in Afghanistan to reopen its embassy, the Taliban wanted an equal number of terrorists in our capital.
