Just one day after returning from his Nantucket vacation, President Biden’s hired Secret Service vehicles caught fire in a parking lot.
Last week, Biden and his family celebrated Thanksgiving on the opulent Massachusetts island. According to video initially obtained by the Nantucket Current, the Secret Service rented five automobiles from Hertz to transport the president and his family, and all five of them caught fire in the parking lot.
Firefighters are seen in footage dousing the burning remains of an engine block from one vehicle with water. A Chevy Suburban, a Ford Explorer, an Infiniti QX80, a Ford Expedition, and a Jeep Gladiator were among the five automobiles.

The fire apparently only reached 40 feet from the jet fuel tanks at the Nantucket airport, where the cars were parked. Currently, it is uncertain what started the fire. Fox News requested information from the White House, but it did not answer right away.
“At approximately 5:22 am Airport shift staff observed an active fire in the rental car overflow area through the Airport’s Closed Circuit Television System. Staff activated the Alert system and responded to the fire in Airport-3, where they were met by responding units from Nantucket Fire Department and Nantucket Police Department,” according to a statement from the airport.
Biden told reporters that he did not discuss a future presidential candidacy in 2024 with his family while they were on vacation in Nantucket for the holiday.
The Biden family resided in a seaside home near Nantucket Harbor. Ashley and Hunter Biden were among the family members that went on the trip. Thanksgiving has been celebrated on the island by the family for over 40 years.
Since the president, first lady, and Hunter Biden traveled to a different remote East Coast island in August on board Air Force One, the family’s escape was their first time away. That trip was to Kiawah Island in South Carolina.
For US presidents, outings on significant holidays and in the late summer are not unusual. During their terms in office, Presidents George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Donald Trump all took comparable vacations. While Obama and Trump both favoured golf courses in the New England region, Bush frequently spent time at his Texas ranch.
