Hillary Clinton, a former presidential contender, has forewarned her supporters that Republicans have devised a scheme to rig the 2024 presidential election.
Right-wing fanatics already have a plan to literally steal the next presidential election, and they’re not hiding it, she claimed in a statement to the progressive advocacy group Indivisible.
She cited the Moore v. Harper lawsuit, which is still pending and challenges the GOP-controlled North Carolina General Assembly’s authority to control elections, including the use of gerrymandered congressional district lines that are thought to give Republicans a significant advantage in the US House.
The appeal was rejected by North Carolina’s top court in February, and the state was forbidden from using the map in the 2022 election as a result.
The US Supreme Court announced on October 18 that the case would be heard in early December.
According to Clinton, there is a good chance the North Carolina Supreme Court’s decision will be overturned. In such circumstances, it would probably be possible for the state legislature to enact policies like requiring voter ID, limiting mail-in balloting to specific counties, and shortening the early voting period.
“The right-wing controlled Supreme Court may be poised to rule on giving state legislatures … the power to overturn presidential elections. If that happens, the 2024 presidential election could be decided not by the popular vote, or even by the anachronistic Electoral College, but by state legislatures,” Clinton remarked.
In the video shared by Indivisible, Clinton discussed her collaboration with the organization to secure a Democratic majority by flipping and protecting roughly thirty seats in six competitive states.
