President Biden warned Democratic donors last night at the Manhattan residence of James and Kathryn Murdoch that the potential of nuclear Armageddon is at its greatest point since the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis as a result of the conflict in Ukraine, as covered in great detail in today’s Morning Jolt.
The White House made Biden’s daily schedule public this morning. Just after noon, he will visit the Volvo Group Powertrain Operations in Hagerstown, Maryland, before making a speech about boosting the economy. Biden will next go to Philadelphia before making his way to Wilmington, Delaware, where he will spend the weekend.
We’ve all grown accustomed to Biden saying unintelligible things out of the blue, such as asking about the whereabouts of a deceased congresswoman, asserting that he once drove a tractor-trailer, rambling about how many interracial couples he sees in ads these days, or claiming that he was politically raised in the Puerto Rican community at home, among other things.
The globe might be headed for a world-ending nuclear exchange, but the president shouldn’t just casually remark it while soliciting funds at a party fundraiser. After all, he is the only American official with the ability to fire nuclear weapons. As Phil Klein noted in April, the words of the president carry more weight than those of the vice president or a senator. Biden is unable to make the necessary adjustment. Biden could have just been letting out some tension. The most alarming reading is that Biden’s most recent intelligence briefing contained something extremely sinister.
