A startling new video shows a stabbing suspect strapped to a hospital bed assaulting a nurse with scissors before lunging at a cop.
Luis Medina, 30, is accused of going insane after being arrested about 11:30 a.m. Authorities said a 41-year-old woman was stabbed many times during a domestic altercation at 65 East Gun Hill Road in The Bronx on Saturday.
According to the NYPD, Medina received minor injuries during the confrontation with the lady and was brought to Bronx Hospital for treatment.
A police body camera footage shows Medina unexpectedly grabbing a pair of scissors from the 26-year-old nurse with his free left hand and hitting her in the head.
According to the footage, Medina climbs out of the bed with his right hand shackled to the bedside and repeatedly tries to swipe at the officer as the nurse hurries out of the room.
Medina then slips and collapses as the officer tases him with his stun pistol before fleeing the room.
According to the NYPD, Medina was charged with various assault offenses as well as criminal possession of a firearm.
According to police, the woman he reportedly stabbed in the domestic altercation was brought to Saint Barnabas Hospital in severe but stable condition.
