Punches Fly As Cash Register Theft Turns Violent At Dollar Tree Store

Last week, police said a woman attacked a store employee while attempting to steal a cash register at a Dollar Tree store in South-Central El Paso.

The unsolved attempted robbery is this week’s Crime of the Week at Crime Stoppers of El Paso.

During the robbery attempt at 9:10 p.m., punches were thrown. Crime Stoppers reported an incident on April 11 at the Dollar Tree at 5640 Alameda Ave., a half block east of Fox Plaza.

According to Crime Stoppers, an unidentified woman was looking at products near the checkout counters before attempting to open a cash register. The woman then snatched the cash register and attempted to flee the establishment with it.

According to authorities, a female store employee was hit while attempting to stop the thief while another person grabbed her by the shirt. The would-be burglar was last spotted walking toward Fox Plaza without the cash register.
